Building Better Soil & Sending Less to the Landfill
Presented on: November 14, 2010
Presented by: Contra Costa Master Gardeners Program
The habit of taking away oak leaves and grass clippings, and then purchasing fertilizers and other additives simply isn’t sustainable for the yard or the environment. Improve soil quality by using the best materials available — nature’s own. A few easy steps for what to do (and what NOT to do) will lead to lush, nutrient-rich compost and benefit the soil’s incredible ecosystem. You can also reduce harmful carbon emissions by eliminating the need to haul green bin waste. In this seminar, we demonstrated best practices for composting, how to build or protect good soil, and helped answer your questions. Presented by the UC Berkeley Extension Master Gardeners Program.
